Imagine what it what it would be like to have geothermal heating and cooling system providing a comfortable home all year round, reducing your energy bills by 25 to 50% and saving the earth all at once. It sounds too good to be true doesn’t it? Well it’s actually not because thousands of commercial and residential buildings already use it.
Geothermal benefit 1 – Lower Running Cost
A geothermal heating and cooling system operates more efficiently than conventional heating and air conditioning system because it can deliver up to seven units of heat energy for every unit of electrical energy used. A Geomaster geothermal system can reduce your power consumption by up to 80%.
Geothermal benefit 2 – Safe, Clean and Healthy
Natural gas, lpg or diesel is not required to operate a geothermal heating and cooling system, so there’s no combustion, flames or fumes and no chance of carbon-monoxide poisoning. You can pipe heat through a concrete floor where there is no air movement or in the case of air handling systems we use High-efficiency air filters to keep your indoor air quality higher by removing dust and pollen so you can breathe easier.
Geothermal benefit 3 – Environmentally Friendly
The ground absorbs about 50 percent of the sun’s energy that reaches the Earth. geothermal heating and cooling systems harness that free, renewable energy and provide an environmentally friendly way to heat and cool your building. Installing a geothermal system is the environmental equivalent of planting 750 trees or removing two cars from the road for good. And the system doesn’t burn fossil fuels, which means no emissions or harmful greenhouse gases are released into the air.
Geothermal benefit 4 – Greater Comfort
With hydronic geothermal heating systems where either inslab, underfloor or radiators are used there is no artificial air movement at all virtually eliminating all noise. In the case of ducted geothermal heating and cooling systems they provide precise distribution of comfortable air all year long, eliminating hot spots and cold spots. During heating, you’ll experience warm air without the hot draughts associated with ordinary gas furnaces, or the cold blasts of an air source heat pump. When in cooling, our geothermal systems deliver cool, dehumidified air.
Geothermal benefit 5 – Quieter
Geothermal heating and cooling systems are designed to be quiet. They don’t have a noisy outdoor unit so you have more comfortable indoor and outdoor living areas.
Geothermal benefit 6 – Reliability
Geothermal heating and cooling systems have proven to be very reliable and require less maintenance. This is because they use the more stable ground temperature to transfer heat which means they last longer. Geomaster Geothermal systems use in ground piping systems that won’t rust or oxidise and have a life cycle of up to 100 years.
Geothermal benefit 7 – Versatile and Flexible
Geothermal heating and cooling systems can be placed indoors or out and can connect to any combination of the following: inslab (concrete), subfloor (timber), fan coils and radiators or any combination thereof. In addition pools, spas and hot water can be incorporated giving a convenient central plant.
Geothermal benefit 8 – Free Hot Water
We can build geothermal heating and cooling systems with integrated desuperheaters. These desuperheaters provide free hot water during the cooling cycle by transferring the heat of compression to your domestic hot water system rather than to the ground where it would otherwise be given up. It must be noted that this can work against you in winter because it is desirable for the heat of compression to go towards heating the building because it increases the heating capacity and increases efficiency.
Geothermal benefit 9 – Reduced Mains Capacity Requirements.
With any new building or major renovation one cost consideration is how much power supply will be required. It is common for the geothermal heating and cooling system to form approximately 50% of the mains capacity requirements. Because geothermal heating and cooling uses so much less power the mains capacity is reduced. This mean the cost for the supply connection is moderated providing another saving. It is also a significant saving and advantage where the customer is off grid or relying 100% on solar power.
